Exclusive Evening Dining
At Birds Ferry Lodge, dining is more than just a meal, it’s an experience. Reflecting the beauty and bounty of New Zealand we serve a seasonal set menu crafted by Chef Alison, known as a Kiwi concept called "Trust the Chef". Each evening the dishes are inspired by the freshest local ingredients available.
Many selections are dictated by what’s perfectly ripe in the garden that afternoon, ensuring a meal that is as vibrant and fresh as the surrounding landscape.
Enjoy for an evening of delicious food, fine wine, and warm hospitality, all without the need to drive anywhere. After a day of exploring, return to Birds Ferry Lodge, put away the car keys, unwind, and let us take care of the rest. Chef Alison is happy to accommodate dietary preferences with advance notice.
Chef Alison prepares each meal exclusively for a maximum of four guests at a time, ensuring an intimate, dining experience where dishes are crafted with care and attention to detail. Elegant table settings with silverware, fresh flowers, and candlelight create an atmosphere of refined relaxation, making every meal a special occasion.

"Fantastic location, great food with home-grown produce (we had breakfast and dinner). Alison & André are amazing hosts and we enjoyed spending time with Muscat & Monte, their 2 dogs. Very comfortable rooms with great views. You can get away from it all here, but it is very close to Westport as well as lots of local walking and wildlife spotting. Definitely recommend."
