Not every highlight appears on a map.
Some of the most memorable moments are the quiet ones. Walking slowly through the flower garden in late light. Standing near the vegetable beds noticing what is growing. Watching bees move steadily between blooms.
Native birds often come surprisingly close. Kereru glide heavily between trees. Tui call from above. Fantails flicker past the terrace.
There is a particular pleasure in having nowhere else to be.
Later, perhaps time in the hot tub as the air cools. Then a glass of wine at sunset, the sky widening and deepening as evening arrives.
In a world that values constant activity, there is quiet luxury in stillness.
