The West Coast Pie Company
The West Coast Pie Company. Westport New Zealand.
They used to say a three-course meal on the West Coast was a pie and two beers. And if you asked a local, they'd tell you the Denniston Incline was the eighth wonder of the world, though what went up didn’t always come down.
Coasters have always been a hardy bunch, built for the wild. They reckoned it rained so much you could bog a duck, and when the cold set in, even the lawyers had their hands in their own pockets. But no matter the weather, they knew how to get the job done, shake off the day’s hard yakka, and head off to see a man about a dog often with that legendary three-course meal in tow.
Time has marched on. The incline is in decline, and the gold-seekers have moved on, but their spirit lingers in the trails they carved. Once trodden by men in search of riches, they’re now explored by adventurers chasing a different kind of gold, rugged landscapes, epic rides, and a taste of the untamed.
One tradition, though, remains as strong as the land itself: a deep appreciation for a damn good pie and an ice-cold beer.
BAKERS OF THE BETTER PIE™
It’s from this storied place—this land of pioneers and wild frontiers that we craft our pies. Here, wild game isn’t just food; it’s a way of life. Hunting, gathering, and cooking with care using real ingredients, nothing fancy, just how it’s meant to be.
Our wild game pies are handmade in small batches, packed with the best cuts of premium wild meat, and baked with zero waste. No shortcuts. No fillers. Just damn good pies. We reckon they’re the Better Pie™.

We’re big believers that wild is the way forward—for our health, for our environment, and for bringing back the kind of flavour you can’t fake.
BETTER FOR YOU
Wild animals are lean, free-roaming, and fueled by nature’s pantry. Take venison, it’s lower in fat, higher in protein, and packed with iron, essential amino acids, and B vitamins. Simply put, it’s real food, the way nature intended.
BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
New Zealand’s wild game is a sustainable resource. Keeping populations in check helps protect our native ecosystems while reducing reliance on intensive farming. Less impact, more flavour, it’s a win-win.
They say the future is plant-based. We say the future is wild.
